Hardwick Appointed NENA Board President

Conway, South Carolina – The National Emergency Association recently appointed a new slate of board members during its Annual Conference & Expo in Indiana. Renee Hardwick, Horry County E-911 Deputy Director, was appointed board president. Hardwick was chosen for her vision on NENA’s future, highlighting her desire for the organization to tackle technology, staffing and funding issues. 

Hardwick has been employed with Horry County for 32 years and has worked in the E-911 Department for 26 of those years.

Horry County Board of Registration & Elections to Conduct Scanner Test

Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County Board of Registration and Elections will conduct a routine test of the 650 Scanner used to count absentee ballots on Election Day, July 5, 2016.  The test will be held Friday, July 1, 2016, at 9 a.m. at the Horry County Registration & Elections Office located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway.

Airport Director Apone Resigns to Take Position in Kentucky

Conway, South Carolina— After serving as director of the Horry County Department of Airports since February 8, 2014, Director Pat Apone has chosen to take a position with the Louisville Regional Airport Authority.  Prior to being director, Ms. Apone was made the assistant director in September of 2011 and began her career with Horry County in the Finance Department in November of 1997.

“Though I understand what a great opportunity this is for Pat professionally, I hate to see her leave,” stated Chris Eldridge, Horry County Administrator.  “A lot was accomplished during Pat’s tenure with the Horry County Department of Airports; from the completion of the new terminal to resurfacing the airport’s lone runway.  Pat Apone always tackled her job with pride and professionalism.  I wish her well in this new challenge.”
 
Current Assistant Airport Director Scott VanMoppes will act as Interim Airport Director.  Horry County will initiate the recruitment process for a new airport director immediately.
 



Run-Off Election Scheduled for June 28

 

Conway, South Carolina – Horry County Registration and Elections would like to remind registered voters that the election date for the Run-Off Election is Tuesday, June 28, 2016.

All absentee ballots must be turned into the Horry County Registration and Elections Office by 7 p.m. the day of the election. Absentee voters may vote in person at the Horry County Registration and Elections Office at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway up until 5 p.m. the Monday prior to the election, which will be Monday, June 27, 2016.  

Voters are encouraged to review their voter registration information to confirm any changes prior to the upcoming Run-Off Election by going to www.scvotes.org under the “Voters” tab on the left.  Also, voters unsure of their voting location should contact their county voter registration office at 915-5440 or log onto the State Election Commission website at www.scvotes.org.

Curbside voting is also available for any voter, because of a physical handicap or age 65 or older who cannot enter the polling place may vote outside of the polling place in their car.

Unofficial results from the election will be posted on Horry County’s website immediately after the results are tallied. The results will be on the county’s homepage and will be updated every five minutes. In order to receive the latest information, users will need to hit their “Refresh” or “Reload” button. The polls will close at 7 p.m. and the results will then be tallied.

Also, Horry County will NOT open the Horry County Government & Justice Center multi-purpose rooms the evening of June 28.
