- The maintenance department is responsible for maintaining all county-owned facilities. The department also provides custodial services in a number of locations as well as lawn and grounds maintenance.
- The Parks Maintenance department handles the maintenance of all county-owned ballfields, boat landings, tennis courts, basketball fields, and parks.
- The department is also responsible for providing Construction Management services for new building construction. The Department also provides new construction and remodeling services on some smaller projects.
The following questions refer to internal Horry County Departments only.
- What do I do if there is a problem with the temperature in my County office?
The County Maintenance Department has four HVAC technicians and works out of two trucks. We schedule repairs according to priority. Please leave a message with the phone operator.
- What do I do if I need furniture moved?
The department schedules its work on a daily basis. Please call the office and submit a work order request.
- What do I do if the roof is leaking?
The Maintenance department will access the situation and make repairs when conditions permit.

- HCMD currently maintains 88 buildings.
- There are 546 major pieces of HVAC equipment in these buildings.
- There are 1,248 plumbing fixtures in these buildings.
- The department handled 3,525 work orders in FY 1999.
- The parks maintenance crew services over 80 locations of ballfields, boat landings, and parks.
