The function of the Professional Standards section is to support the mission of the department by providing a professional avenue with which to encourage public trust and confidence in the integrity and dependability of the Horry County Police department by providing a mechanism for resolving allegations as expeditiously and thoroughly as possible. This section also manages all of the federal grants awarded to the department, including preparations of new grant request and reporting on all existing grants.

This section is currently staffed with one Lieutenant, whose chain of command is directly to the Chief of Police.
