"The police department has acquired funding through a block grant to hire a chemist and purchase equipment to establish an in-house, regional drug laboratory. In conjunction with the grant funding, County Council has approved funding for an addition to the M.L. Brown Public Safety Building to house the laboratory. We anticipate being able to commence with a drug analysis program, to include service to adjacent municipalities, in Horry County by November 1, 2002."
