GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
|
Under occasional supervision, performs various nursing and administrative tasks to ensure that all proper medical treatment and preventive care are provided to inmates. Assists physicians in examinations and treatments; performs various medical tests and provides emergency and routine medical attention. Reports to the Nurse Supervisor.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
|
Responds to and provides medical care in emergency situations.
|
|
Orders, picks up, and assists in dispensing medications to inmates as prescribed by physicians.
|
|
Performs basic health screening and routine tests.
|
|
Makes appointments for inmates with physicians, dentists, mental health professionals, Health department personnel, etc.
|
|
Transports inmates to medical area for appointments.
|
|
Schedules payments for doctor's visits.
|
|
Maintains inmate medical files.
|
|
Participates in in-service training; keeps up certifications.
|
|
Performs a variety of administrative tasks.
|
|
Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports.
|
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
|
Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse is mandatory and a minimum of two years experience. Must be a self-starter and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment. Position will work 6pm until 6am on a rotating basis with other staff.
