GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
|
Under the supervision of the Financial Planning and Reporting Accountant; assists in the preparation of interim and CAFR financial statements; monitors specific fund activity; maintains, and reviews, the financial activities and records of certain funds in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Horry County policies and procedures and makes any necessary adjustments and corrections; prepares statistical and other tables and schedules needed for revenue and expense monitoring, for interim financial reporting, and for the annual audit, CAFR, and single audit; assists in the analysis of new and existing accounting processes and procedures to identify improvements in internal control and process efficiencies; performs other duties as directed by the supervisor.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
|
Assists in the preparation of interim and CAFR financial statements. Assists in the monitoring of accounting activity for certain funds and maintains, and reviews the financial activities and records of certain funds in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Horry County policies and procedures. Assists in the preparation of statistical and other tables and schedules needed for the CAFR, for revenue and expense monitoring and reporting to management, and for the annual audit, and single audit. Examine and analyze new and existing accounting processes and procedures as directed by supervisor to identify improvements in internal controls and to identify improved process efficiencies through improved manual processes or via the use of automated tools (such as PC database, spreadsheet, and/or other software). Assist in activities, analyses, and preparation of entries related to monthly closings and the fiscal year end closing of the accounting records and preparation of the CAFR. Researches and prepares reports and surveys required by federal and state agencies. Works with Information Technology to secure detail and summary financial data from the financial system. Performs related duties as may be required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
|
Requires Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance, or business with at least 3 years of governmental accounting experience.
|
|
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
|
|
Must be proficient in using PC’s.
|
|
Competent in the usage of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point.
|
|
Knowledge of GAAP and GASB pronouncements.
|
|
Strong analytical and presentation skills.
|
|
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to manage deadlines.
|
|
|
