Does Horry County provide legal aid services to the public?
Horry County does not provide legal aid or other legal services to
the general public. Citizens requiring such services can contact the South Carolina Center for Equal Justice.

To obtain a passport, contact the Horry County Clerk of Court's Office.
The Horry County Clerk of Court can no longer provide
expedited passport services.
If you plan to travel in four weeks or less, you will need to contact your local

Agricultural information and soil tests can be obtained from the South Carolina Clemson
Extension Office located at Clemson University Extension Service office. The Clemson
Extension offers a wide range of community services such as: nutrition, food safety,

How do I get a DBA (Doing Business As)?
The paperwork for a DBA must be drafted through your attorney's office. It can then be filed
at the Horry County Register of Deeds Office. However, keep in mind, the only way to protect
your business' name is to incorporate or trademark it through the South Carolina Secretary of
State's Office.

Do I need a permit to drive a golf cart on the street?
Yes. You need a permit from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. In addition,
