The Horry County Stormwater Advisory Board was established July 1, 2000.

The Stormwater Advisory Board is a group of County Council appointed members, taking time from their own busy schedules to help advise County officials on local stormwater-related issues. This committee meets approximately nine times a year at the Government and Justice Center in downtown Conway and these meetings are open to the public.

Over the past several years, the Stormwater Advisory Board has been consulting the Horry County Stormwater Department on many aspects of the County's drainage, regulations, and expenditures relating to this department. In recent years, this advisory board has made recommendations on local major drainage projects and capitol improvement projects using their combined knowledge regarding the County's flood history, engineering, development, and various other issues relating to our County. The Stormwater Advisory Board provides input on matters of the Stormwater Department's budget, making recommendations and reviews to the allocation of fees and money management. Recently, the Board helped create a plan for compliance with the new NPDES Phase II regulations required by the EPA. Currently, they are in the progress of reviewing the Stormwater Ordinance and the Stormwater Design Manual, as to provide insight for future modifications to benefit water quality, flood reduction, and local stormwater pretreatment.

  • The next Stormwater Advisory Board meeting is being held September 22, 2009 at the Government & Justice Center 2nd floor Multi-Purpose Room D, 1301 Second Avenue Conway, SC from 3-5 pm.
