Horry County Memorial Library to Hold Used Book Sale

Conway, South Carolina-A used book sale will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2013, through Thursday, November 14, 2013, from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Horry County Memorial Library System’s administrative offices located at 1008 Fifth Avenue in Conway.  Hardback books are just $1 and paperbacks are only $0.50!  All funds raised during this special sale will go towards the Horry County Memorial Library Endowment Fund that funds speakers and programs to benefit the entire library system.   

 

The Horry County Memorial Library System has ten branches located throughout the County and a traveling Bookmobile.  For information on the used book sale, contact the Horry County Memorial Library System’s Administrative Offices at 843-248-1544.



Surfside Library to Close for Inventory

Conway, South Carolina –The Surfside Beach branch of the Horry County Memorial Library System will close Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25, 2013, in order to complete a thorough inventory of the library’s collection. 

In addition, the Loris branch of the Horry County Memorial Library System will close Saturday, October 19, 2013, for the Loris Bog Off.

Bucksport LIbrary Branch To Reopen

Conway, South Carolina – The Bucksport Branch of the Horry County Memorial Library, located off of Highway 701 South, which was closed for renovations will reopen Monday, April 1, 2013 at 9 a.m.

Library renovations included the reconfiguration of space to make more room for 12 computers and more space for programming. The library also received new carpet, a fresh coat of paint, new furnishings and shelving. Mobile shelving was also installed, which allows for more space options to accommodate patrons and various programs that are hosted in the library. Bucksport Library is the first public library in the state to install such mobile shelving that will be accessible to the public.

The Bucksport Branch of the Horry County Memorial Library will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The library is closed Fridays and Sundays.

Green Sea And Little River Libraries Announce New Hours

Conway, South Carolina – The Green Sea branch and Little River branch of the Horry County Memorial Library system will be open the following hours effective April 8, 2013:

Green Sea branch: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Fridays 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Little River branch: Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Bucksport Library Branch to Close for Renovations

Conway, South Carolina – The Bucksport Branch of the Horry County Memorial Library, located off of Highway 701 South, will close for renovations on January 31 for a couple of months. We hope to open the new-improved library in spring 2013.

Library renovations will include the reconfiguration of space to make more room for 12 computers and more space for programming. The library will also receive new carpet, a fresh coat of paint, new furnishings and shelving. Mobile shelving will also be installed, which will allow more space options to accommodate patrons and various programs that are hosted in the library. Bucksport Library will be the first public library in the state to install such mobile shelving that will be accessible to the public. “We are excited to rejuvenate the Bucksport Library and update the interior to make it a more pleasing experience for our customers,” stated Clifton Boyer, Horry County Memorial Library Director. “The renovations will also make the space much more functional for staff and allow us to alter the space as needed for specialize programs and events.”
