Conway Library Receives Donation from the Rankin Family

Horry County officials are pleased to announce that this month they received the deed to a property donated to benefit the Conway Library, a part of the Horry County Memorial Library system. The property, located at 1008 Winding Road, Conway, South Carolina, was presented as a gift to the Library by Senator Luke Rankin at the Library’s 70th anniversary celebration on August 21, 2019. The Library is currently making plans for the property and details about how the Library plans to put this benevolent gift to best use will be announced at a future date.

“We are fortunate to have a wonderfully supportive community here in Horry County and all of us at the library are so appreciative of this gift from the Rankin family and their continued support of our organization and mission,” said Director of Libraries Cindy Thornley.

Teresa Moise, Chairman of the Library Board of Trustees, said, “The Board is incredibly grateful for this contribution from the Rankin family that will allow us to have an even bigger impact on the people of Horry County.”

Assistant County Administrator for Administration Barry Spivey provided this statement: “On behalf of Horry County Government I would like to extend our thanks to Senator Rankin and his family for providing us with this generous gift. It will bring tremendous value to the communities that we serve.”
