Horry County Voter's Registration & Elections to Conduct Scanner Test for August Election

The Horry County Board of Registration and Elections will conduct a routine test of the scanner which will be used to count absentee ballots on Election Day, August 18, 2020. The test will be held Friday, August 14, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. at the Horry County Registration & Elections Office located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway.

Aerial Mosquito Spraying for Monday, August 10, 2020

Horry County Government will conduct aerial spraying for mosquitoes Monday, August 10, 2020, (inclement weather alternate date is Wednesday, August 12, 2020), between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and dusk, weather permitting in the following locations:

  • Loris area: Westgate Pl/ Hwy 66/ Rosario Pl/ Bluebird Rd

The Horry County Stormwater Department operates the mosquito control program and offers regular service to residents in the unincorporated area of Horry County. Anyone in the unincorporated areas can request mosquito spraying by calling the Road and Drainage Hotline at (843) 381-8000 or by using the free HCConnect App on their smartphone. To help keep our honeybee population safe, beekeepers are urged to contact Horry County Stormwater to identify the location of their colonies or fill out a no-spray zone form on our website.

The chemicals used for mosquito control spraying are approved by the EPA and pose minimal risk to humans or animals. Individuals with asthma or other respiratory illness may wish to stay indoors and close windows and doors during spraying. In addition, homegrown fruits and vegetables should be washed, scrubbed, and/or peeled before eating.

Green Sea Library Closed Due to Power Outage

The Green Sea Library branch of the Horry County Memorial Library System will be closed today, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, due to a power outage. 

Library patrons are encouraged to visit one of the other branches located throughout Horry County. Locations, hours, and COVID-19 limitations can be found on the Horry County Memeorial Library System's website

Governor's Latest Executive Order for Monday, August 3, 2020

The Governor issued an Executive Order that will go into effect on Monday, August 3, 2020 mandating that all previously recommended guidelines for restaurants and other establishments that attract groups of people are now mandatory. You can review those guidelines here:

In order to ensure that our business community understands and complies with these new mandates, Horry County Government created a team comprised of staff from Horry County Police Department and Horry County Code Enforcement to proactively educate businesses regarding the Governor’s orders and how they can protect their customers and staff by following these orders. Our goal is to help businesses understand and comply with these orders.
