The Horry County Animal Care Center will hold its monthly vaccination clinic October 15, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the shelter located at 1923 Industrial Park Road in Conway. The following services are offered:

• Distemper/Parvo-$10--must be at least 8-weeks old (canine)
• Bordatella-$10--must be at least 8-weeks old (canine)
• Rabies- $10--must be at least 4-months old (canine & feline)
• Microchip-$15--must be at least 8-weeks old (canine & feline)
• Rhinotracheitis/Calici-$10--must be at least 8-weeks old (feline)

We ask that dogs be on a hand-held leash and cats in a pet carrier.

Horry County will conduct mosquito spraying, weather permitting, in the following areas:

• September 19, 2019- Hwy 378 and Bucksport areas
• September 20, 2019- Juniper Bay area and Highway 905/Highway 22 area

Aerial spraying will be conducted 30-minutes prior to sunset and 30-minutes after sunset, weather permitting. 

The chemicals used for mosquito control spraying are approved by the EPA and pose minimal risk to humans or animals. Individuals with asthma or other respiratory illness may wish to stay indoors and close windows and doors during spraying. In addition, homegrown fruits and vegetables should be washed, scrubbed, and/or peeled before eating.

To help keep our honeybee population safe, beekeepers are urged to contact Horry County Stormwater to identify the location of their colonies. An interactive map will be posted here. 

In addition, citizens who need to request spraying in their area can contact the Horry County Road & Drainage Hotline at 843-381-8000.

The Horry County Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a Fun Run and Trunk or Treat at the Carolina Forest Recreation center on October 26th, 2019. This event will be the grand opening of a newly created 5K run and walk trail behind the Carolina Forest Recreation Center.

Costumes are encouraged for the Fun Run and awards will be given for best female adult costume, best male adult costume, best female child costume, best male child costume, best couple costume and best family costume. Fun Runners will be rewarded with a themed medal at the finish line and all paid registrants will receive a Halloween themed race t-shirt.

Immediately after the Fun Run, Horry County Parks and Recreation will host a free Trunk or Treat for all children of Horry County. The Trunk or Treat will feature games, face painting, and inflatables while numerous businesses and Horry County departments will be handing out candy to the children. Please join us for this great event!

Everyone is welcome to participate in both events, or just bring your family out for some trick or treating fun at trunk or treat!
