RIDE 3 Sales Tax Commission Votes on Preliminary Road List

Conway, South Carolina –After several months of public meetings, the Horry County RIDE 3 Sales Tax Commission voted on a preliminary list of road projects for Horry County Council to consider placing on the November 2016 General Election ballot. (See attached list.) If passed by the voters, a one percent sales tax would go into effect countywide for eight years beginning on May 1, 2017. The estimated revenue during the sales tax implementation is $590 million.

The RIDE 3 Sales Tax Commission will host seven public information meetings throughout the county for the public to learn about their recommendations, view maps, speak with engineers, and give feedback on the road projects. After receiving community input, the Commission’s final list in priority order will be submitted to Horry County Council by May 17, 2016. The public information meetings are as follows:

Pitts Landing Road, Punch Bowl Landing Road & Yauhannah Boat Landing Closed

Conway, South Carolina —Horry County Public Works has closed Pitts Landing Road and Punch Bowl Landing Road, both in the South Conway area of Horry County, until further notice due to flooding. In addition, the Yauhannah Boat Landing, located off Highway 701 in the South Conway area of Horry County is also closed due to flooding.
