Conway, South Carolina (April 7, 2020)—Horry County will conduct ground mosquito spraying, weather permitting, starting April 8, 2020, for approximately four to five hours after dark Monday through Thursday.
The chemicals used for mosquito control spraying are approved by the EPA and pose minimal risk to humans or animals. Individuals with asthma or other respiratory illness may wish to stay indoors and close windows and doors during spraying. In addition, homegrown fruits and vegetables should be washed, scrubbed, and/or peeled before eating.
To help keep our honeybee population safe, beekeepers are urged to report their hives using our online form or by calling the Road & Drainage Hotline at (843) 381-8000.

All meetings for April 6-10, 2020, have either been canceled or postponed.
Horry County Government offices remain closed to the public for the week of April 6, 2020. This excludes all airports. Limited court functions will continue. In addition, all state offices in County facilities will remain open, as directed by the Governor.
All County offices will be closed in observance of Good Friday on Friday, April 10, 2020.
We strongly urge the public to handle business online where possible. We understand that there are crucial transactions that must take place and are not available online. The public is asked to call those departments directly for information and coordination.
Court for Horry County Magistrate Court and Circuit Court is canceled the week of April 6. Jurors should not report to the courthouse next week.
The Horry County Emergency phone bank will close at 5:00 p.m. today and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2020.
Road Construction Update
Grier Dock Road, in the Galivants Ferry section of Horry County, will be closed for approximately 90-days, weather permitting, beginning April 8, 2020, for the bridge to be replaced.
Additionally, John Cannon Road, in the Aynor section of Horry County, will also be closed for approximately 90-days, weather permitting, starting April 2, 2020, for the bridge to be replaced.

Conway, South Carolina (April 4, 2020)—Due to current weather conditions, Horry County Government has initiated an outdoor burning ban effective immediately for the unincorporated areas of Horry County. This ban will remain in place until further notice. The ban has been placed due to the extreme fire danger as a result of the low relative humidity and windy conditions. Any and all outdoor burning, included permitted burns, are strictly prohibited during the ban, and those involved in any open burning would be in violation of the law.

Recognizing the economic impacts to our area resulting from emergencies and disasters, Horry County Council has taken action to implement additional protections for the business community as part of the County’s emergency management, response and recovery. With the Governor’s order declaring a State of Emergency on March 13, 2020, certain provisions dealing with the filing of fee returns took immediate effect.

Horry County Council Chairman Johnny Gardner said, “We know this is an incredibly difficult time for our local business community. We will continue to work with them to mitigate the economic impacts of this event.”
Angie Jones, Horry County Treasurer said, “We understand many businesses have been required to close and that makes it difficult or impossible to keep up with our normal deadlines. If any business owners have questions or concerns, we encourage them to call our office—we are standing by and ready to help.”
The Horry County Business License and Hospitality Fee Office can be reached at 843-915-5620. While County facilities remain closed to the public, staff in these offices are still working and available to answer questions or address concerns.

The Planning Commission Meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. will take place as a virtual meeting. The meeting will be broadcast on the Horry County Government website (link below) as well as the Government Access Channel.
Members of the public will have an opportunity to provide public comment via telephone on the items having public hearing. You must sign up in advance to speak on public hearing by noon on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
