Conway, South Carolina – Recommendations will be made to County Administrator Chris Eldridge by the Evaluation Committee regarding Request for Proposals (RFP) 2013-14-002 for Horry County Fire/Rescue Healthcare Services. The recommendation will be made on Wednesday, November 6, at 9:00 a.m. in the Administrator’s Conference Room at the Horry County Government and Justice Center, 1301 Second Avenue in Conway.

Conway, South Carolina – All Horry County offices, other than public safety operations, will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2013, in observance of Veteran’s Day. Regular courts may be in operation in the Horry County Government & Justice Center and all jurors, witnesses, etc. will be required to be present.

Conway, South Carolina-Two suspects have been charged in connection with an Armed Robbery that occurred yesterday morning in Conway.
On October 29, 2013 at approximately 9:45am, Officers with the Horry County Police Department’s Central Precinct responded to Cash for Gold at 1080 Hwy. 501 in the Conway section of Horry County in reference to an Armed Robbery. Upon their arrival, they learned that two male suspects dressed in all black clothing and wearing masks entered the store with a weapon and demanded money. After obtaining money and an additional gun, the suspects fled on foot behind the store.
Officers with the Horry County Police Department with the assistance of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Conway Police Department and Coastal Carolina Department of Public Safety quickly established a perimeter and the Horry County Police Bloodhound Tracking Team was activated. One of the suspects was captured within two hours of the search. Police continued searching the area and located the second suspect a short time later. Both suspects were transported to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Code Red, an emergency notification system recently acquired by Horry County Government was utilized during the incident. A total of 1016 notifications of the incident through phone calls, text alerts and emails were made to residents, business owners and schools within an approximate 2 mile radius where they were urged to take the proper precautions while law enforcement was conducting the search. October 30, 2013, both suspects were formally charged.
Arrested:
Leroi Bernard Jackson (21 YOA B/M) DOB: 10-02-92. He resides in the Conway section of Horry County. He is currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Charge: Armed Robbery
Jamal Dashon Bessent (19 YOA B/M) DOB: 07-26-94. He resides in the North Myrtle Beach section of Horry County. He is currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Charge: Armed Robbery
