Conway, South Carolina –Horry County Emergency Management will host several town hall meetings for the public on the Know Your Zone hurricane evacuation zones.
Bucksport Area – September 10 at 6:00 p.m.
Bucksport Library, 7657 Highway 701 South, Conway
Carolina Forest Area – September 18 at 6:00 p.m.
Carolina Forest Recreation Center, 2254 Carolina Forest Boulevard, Myrtle Beach
There are three hurricane evacuation zones, which incorporates more land mass and requires additional people living in those areas to leave during certain hurricanes based on surge inundation instead of category of storm. It will be important for every resident to know if they live in a hurricane evacuation zone and what to do when asked to leave. Residents can visit the Horry County Emergency Management’s website at http://emd.horrycounty.org/ to view the hurricane evacuation zone maps and related information on how to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.

August 3, 2013 -- The friends of the Horry County Museum will be sponsoring the 9th annual Tobacco Heritage Festival on Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 9:00am until 3:00 pm. Hand tying and stringing of tobacco and a variety of domestic activities such as grinding grits and meal, cooking on a wood stove, blacksmithing, soap making and traditional music, etc. will be demonstrated at the L. W. Paul Living History Farm located at the corner of Hwy 701 North and Harris Shortcut Road in Conway, SC. Live music, children’s activities, and interpretations of rural farm life in Horry County during the early 20th century will be featured as well. For more information, please contact the L. W.
