In an effort to recognize the many United States military veterans in Horry County, the Horry County Veteran’s Affairs Office has a monthly recognition program entitled “Horry’s Heroes” in which a veteran will be featured on the County’s social media platforms each month.
All honorably discharged veterans (active duty, reserve, retired and/or deceased) from 1900 to present are eligible to be featured. All that is needed is a picture and basic information.
The featured veteran for February 2020 is Jeffrey Lane Wingo! Mr. Wingo served as a E5/EO2 with the United States Navy for 12-years in Philadelphia, Peal Harbor, Baltimore, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. He served in Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). The many medals he received for his service include the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device(2), Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal (2) and a Navy Unit Commendation. Mr. Wingo's favorite moments were always the flight back home after long deployments!
Mr. Wingo retired to Conway, South Carolina.
