Community Development Block Grant Workshops & Deadline Announced

CONWAY, SC– The Horry County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Office has announced that the deadline for filing CDBG sub-recipient agency applications for the 2014 cycle will be February 7, 2014, by 2 p.m. The application and application instructions can be found HERE.

The funding is provided through a federal block grant program to assist in developing a viable urban community by expanding opportunities for decent housing, suitable living environments and needed public services. The projects must provide a benefit for low- to-moderate income citizens and/or address areas of slum/blight. The County CDBG office does not make grants directly to individuals or families, but instead funds non- profit and governmental agencies which carry out projects in the local area. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.

To assist with the applications, the Horry County CDBG Office will hold three classes at the CDBG/Voters Registration and Election Complex located at 1515 Fourth Avenue, Conway. They are scheduled as follows:

  • Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 16, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Interested parties should contact the CDBG Office to reserve a spot as classes are quickly filling. For further information regarding the Community Development Block Grant Program, please contact the CDBG Office at 843-915-7033.
