Conway, South Carolina-Ahead of the Horry County Council Public Safety Committee meeting on June 13, 2018, the committee will hold a workshop on the recently proposed ordinance that would provide for the regulation of outdoor burning within unincorporated Horry County. The workshop will be held at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers at the Government and Justice Center and members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate. The workshop will include public input, and members of the public who would like to participate in the public input at this workshop are not required to register in advance. The Public Safety Committee Meeting will immediately follow in Council Chambers.

Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County Board of Architectural Review & Historic Preservation will hold their annual Historic Preservation Awards May 15, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at the McCown Auditorium at the Horry County Museum, 805 Main Street, in Conway.
The awards ceremony will showcase historic preservation efforts throughout Horry County during the last year. Our guest speaker will be David Douglas a former member of the board and an award recipient this year for all his rehabilitation work within the County. All properties that were designated as historic between May 2017 and April 2018 will receive a certificate acknowledging the honor. Also being recognized:

Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County Animal Care Center (HCACC) will hold a vaccination clinic, May 8, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the shelter located at 1923 Industrial Park Road in Conway. The following services will be offered:
Dogs and cats are both welcome; dogs must be on a hand-held leash and cats must be in a pet carrier.
The Animal Care Center also holds low-cost spay/neuter clinics, which are open to all residents of Horry County. The cost for cats is $50 and dogs are $80 (discounted fees are available for residents receiving government assistance). Contact the HCACC at for more information or to make an appointment.
To help homeless animals find loving homes, the HCACC offers discounted adoptions the first Friday and Saturday of each month. The discounted fee typically includes spaying/neutering, vaccines, heartworm or leukemia testing, heartworm and flea preventative, intestinal parasite treatment and microchipping. Qualifying new pet parents also get 30-days free pet health insurance and coupons from local pet businesses.

Conway, South Carolina – The Keep Horry County Beautiful Committee announces a volunteer opportunity for citizens or organizations interested in assisting with upcoming litter cleanups in our community. Trash bags, gloves, safety vests, and trash grabbers will be provided.
Saturday, March 10th – Burgess Community - 9 a.m. to Noon. The Greater Burgess Community Association, in partnership with Keep Horry County Beautiful, will hold a community cleanup beginning at the South Strand Recreation Center (9650 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach). Volunteers will be transported to clean up litter along Holmestown Road and Scipio Lane.
Saturday, March 17th – Bucksport Road – 9 a.m. Join the Distinguished Men of Bucksport in partnership with Keep Horry County Beautiful for the cleanup of Bucksport Road in Bucksport. Please meet at 9 a.m. at the James R. Frazier Community Center located at 1370 Bucksport Road. Contact Alphonzo Sherman for more information: (843) 340-5586.
