Conway, South Carolina – Horry County Council, in conjunction with Keep Horry County Beautiful and numerous partners, will host a countywide, volunteer litter cleanup event Saturday, November 8, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event will feature 12-locations around the county where volunteers can choose to participate. Sign-in at each location will begin at 8:30 a.m. with roadside pickup to begin at 9 am to 11:30 am. A list of the 12 locations are as follows:
Volunteers are invited to a post celebration party at the Myrtle Beach Speedway from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. The litter collected at the various locations around the county will be transported and displayed at the Speedway. There will be lunch, prizes, entertainment provided by the band Cool Hand, public safety displays, animal adoptions, and much more!
Participating agencies and partners for the event include Keep Horry County Beautiful, PalmettoPride, Coastal Carolina University, Horry County Schools, Carolina Forest Civic Association, Greater Burgess Community Association, Chicora Indian Tribe, Horry County Solid Waste Authority, Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors, Myrtle Beach Speedway, Chick-Fil-A, the Jamestown Chefs, Cool Hand, and many more.
Pre-registration is highly encouraged and available on the Horry County website. Volunteers may follow the link to pre-register online or may download the preregistration form and mail it to Nancy Tindall, Horry County Planning & Zoning, 1301 2nd Ave, Conway, SC 29526. Walk-ups are also welcome the day of the event and a waiver form will be provided prior to participating in the cleanup event. The public is encouraged to participate as well as church groups, civic organizations, community associations, local businesses, etc. Come out and show your support for a cleaner Horry County!
Volunteers should also download a waiver form to bring to the registration table on the day of the event. One form will be required per individual. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CLEANUP EVENT WITHOUT A SIGNED WAIVER FORM! Please note that participants who are at least 16 years of age, but under 18 years of age, must have a parent or other legal custodian sign the waiver form. NO PARTICIPANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 16 YEARS WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE WITHOUT PRESENCE OF A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN.
Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes to participate and are encouraged to wear long sleeves, long pants, leather shoes or boots, and eye protection. Trash bags, gloves, a wristband, and a brightly colored t-shirt and safety vest will be provided the day of the event.

Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County Registration & Elections Office is looking for poll workers for the November 4, 2014, General Election in the Garden City, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Socastee, Surfside Beach and Windy Hill areas. Poll workers must be 16 years of age or older (if 18 years of age or older, they must be registered voters in Horry County). Paid training must be completed online or in the office and workers must work the polls the day of the election from 6:30 a.m. until the polls close at 7 p.m. Workers will receive $60 for training and $60 for working Election Day.

Conway, South Carolina – Effective immediately, citizens who mail in their annual vehicle tax payment or drop their payment off in one of the Horry County Treasurer’s drop box locations, will receive a receipt (SAMPLE) with their renewal registration and sticker from the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles instead of the county mailing a separate vehicle tax receipt. Citizens who pay in person or online will continue to receive a printed receipt.

Citizens may visit the Horry County website to print additional copies of their receipt or pay their taxes online. Simply click on Online Services and then Tax Payments & Receipts. The system allows searches by name, receipt number or map number.

Conway, South Carolina – All Horry County Treasurer’s and Horry County Auditor’s Offices will close Friday, October 3, 2014, to transition to a new tax software system. The new system, QS1, currently serves 29 of the 46 counties in South Carolina and will now be utilized in Horry County.
In addition, Internet payments will not be accessible and credit/debit transactions cannot be made at any of the Horry County Treasurer’s offices beginning at noon Thursday, October 2, 2014, until 8 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014.
