Conway, South Carolina (November 27, 2019)—Horry County Officials announced today that the extension of Palmetto Pointe Boulevard is officially open to traffic. The project extends the existing section of Palmetto Pointe Boulevard to connect to SC Hwy. 544 at the Big Block Road intersection. The new road includes bike and pedestrian improvements such as sidewalks and wider travel lanes. Drivers traveling in the area are reminded to travel cautiously and be aware of road signs and speed limits.

Horry County Government is proud to be a part of the 2019 US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign once again this year. Donation boxes will be available at the following County offices:
The US Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program distributes new, unwrapped toys to needy children ages 0 -12 years old in Horry County.
Boxes will be at the above locations by Tuesday, November 26, 2019, and Horry County will collect toys until December 12, 2019.
Please note that Horry County is NOT a distribution point and cannot take requests for toys. Requests to receive toys through the program should be directed to the local Toys for Tots website.

Keep Horry County Beautiful, a subcommittee of the Horry County Parks and Open Space Board has a mission to end litter, reduce waste, and beautify communities. As part of this mission, Keep Horry County Beautiful and their partners have picked-up over 122,000 pounds of litter in 2018! In an effort to shape the future of a litter-free Horry County, Keep Horry County Beautiful and their partners including the Horry County Solid Waste Authority, Grand Strand Surfrider Foundation, CCU’s Sustain Coastal, and the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium has launched a survey on recycling and single-use plastic bags intended to gather input to guide education and outreach.
Anyone interested in taking the survey is invited to access it online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KHCBSingleUsePlastics. The survey is anticipated to be available for three to six months with an end date in April or May 2020. A link to the survey will be posted on the Keep Horry County Beautiful Facebook page and distributed via email to those who have expressed interest in receiving communication from Keep Horry County Beautiful. The survey may also be shared by our partner organizations and their members.
