Upcoming Change to Transaction Fees for Tax Payments
Beginning Saturday, November 20, 2021 all card transactions, credit and debit, processed through our website will be assessed a 2.35% fee. Previously, the online fee for debit cards was a flat fee of $3.95. For payments made in person at the office, credit card transactions will incur the 2.35% fee and pin debit transactions will incur the $3.95 fee. The County does not receive any revenues from these transactional fees, they are paid directly to the processor and cover the transactional fee assessed by the processor. The County does not set or determine these rates.
We encourage anyone doing business with us online to take advantage of the free e-check transaction online. The e-check payment process uses the Automated Clearing House (ACH) system to transfer money electronically, requiring customers to use the routing and account numbers from their financial institution to make a payment.
Taxpayers can make an online payment by visiting horrycounty.org/Online-Services/Tax-Payments. Customers with questions about their tax bill can call the Treasurer’s Office at (843) 915-5470.
