Keep Horry County Beautiful Receives Funds to Support Litter Solutions
Keep Horry County Beautiful is proud to announce that they have received an award of $9,375 for 2022 through PalmettoPride’s Keep South Carolina Beautiful (KSCB) Annual Support Grant to implement initiatives, programs, and projects designed to prevent litter in Horry County. The KSCB Annual Support Grant provides local Keep America Beautiful (KAB) affiliates in South Carolina with a competitive financial opportunity to add additional resources that address specific local litter concerns.
In 2021, $6,900 in funds from the Annual Support Grant were awarded to KHCB, for litter programs in the community including the “Secure Your Load” Tarp Giveaway Campaign, the Annual Litter Index, increased litter reduction efforts in rural parts of Horry County, and the support of our many adoption groups, litter clean-up volunteers, and partner organizations. Funds were also used to support the installation of the one-of-a-kind Discovery Trail at the South Strand Recreation Center.
In 2022, KHCB will utilize funding for a Countywide Tree-Giveaway, build the vitality of rural litter prevention programs, and continue to work cooperatively on litter reduction efforts with County officials, staff, and volunteers. These are just a few examples of how the support grant will address litter issues through positive environmental, social and financial impacts.
“Keep Horry County Beautiful’s successes are a result of the development and investment in solutions our volunteers and citizens can be part of,” said April O’Leary, Vice-Chairperson of Keep Horry County Beautiful. “Thanks to this funding from and our partnership with PalmettoPride, training from Keep South Carolina Beautiful, and the support from our local and state elected officials, we can proudly say we are helping to establish and sustain clean and beautiful communities.”
