Hurricane Florence Disaster Recovery Update

Conway, SC (November 9, 2018)—Horry County Government is continuing to assist with the recovery effort following Hurricane Florence.

The mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) Unit continues to operate in Horry County. The DRC is staffed by members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Small Business Association (SBA) and open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Here is a list of centers operating in Horry County:

  • Bucksport, James R. Frazier Community Center, open through November 10, 2018
  • Little River, North Strand Recreation Center, open November 13 through November 15, 2018
  • Socastee, South Strand Recreation Center, open November 16, 17, 19, and 20, 2018.

It is not too late to apply for assistance. The deadline to register for aid through FEMA – for uninsured or underinsured damage or losses due to Hurricane Florence – has been extended to 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018Horry County encourages anyone who needs disaster recovery assistance to visit a Disaster Recovery Center to apply. Survivors can also call 800-621-3362 or 800-462-7585 (TTY) anytime from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM local time seven days a week until further notice, or go online at DisasterAssistance.gov.
