The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a Public Information Meeting for Tuesday, January 15, 2019, concerning the proposed relocation of US 501 in Myrtle Beach. The proposed improvements along US 501 are from Broadway Street to 9th Avenue.
The meeting will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot, located at 851 Broadway Street in Myrtle Beach. The meeting will have a drop-in type format with displays for viewing and citizens will have the opportunity to provide written comments. Formal, verbal comments will not be taken during this meeting; however, in the future if an official Public Hearing is held, citizens will have the opportunity to make formal, verbal comments. The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity to review and discuss individually with representatives from SCDOT the proposed improvements to US 501. These improvements are intended to improve capacity and safety of the corridor. Another purpose of the meeting is to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area. Personnel from SCDOT will be available to answer questions and discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.
