Conway, South Carolina – Keep Horry County Beautiful (KHCB) will continue the “Secure Your Load” Tarp Giveaway campaign during the month of May. Initiated in 2017 as an effort to reduce the amount of roadside litter and debris the program focused on residents and small business owners who use their personal vehicles for hauling. The campaign is based, in part, on facts gathered from the nationwide 2016 AAA report, which stated that more than 200,000 wrecks, 39,000 injuries and 500 deaths in the previous four years had been caused by trash in the roads and objects flying off vehicles. Additionally, KHCB’s Annual Litter Index revealed and continues to show, consistently littered roadways near Solid Waste Authority Convenience Centers. Accordingly, Keep Horry County Beautiful and the Horry County Police Department will distribute free tarps, courtesy of a PalmettoPride Grant, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations (exact addresses may be found on the Horry County Solid Waste Authority's website):
The Keep Horry County Beautiful Committee will meet May 28, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. in Multipurpose Room B of the Government and Justice Center located 1301 2nd Avenue in Conway. For more information in getting involved in keeping the County’s boat landings, waterways, parks, and roadsides beautiful and litter-free throughout the year, may contact Keep Horry County Beautiful (tindalln@horrycounty.org or 915-5340).
