HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE
Horry County Government has lowered the operational condition level following impacts to our area from Hurricane Dorian. At this time, the Emergency Operations Center remains activated. Shelters will close tomorrow, Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. Horry County disaster assessment teams are actively surveying damage to our area. There are currently approximately 17,600 power outages in Horry County. Residents are encouraged to continue to be cautious as they travel as there may be downed power lines and ponding on roadways.
Horry County operates on new OPCON levels
OPCON THREE - Normal Daily Operations
Agencies plan, train, coordinate and exercise as needed. Incidents are monitored by the county warning point and county emergency management.
OPCON TWO - Enhanced Awareness
A disaster or emergency is likely to affect the county. Emergency operations plans are implemented. The County Emergency Operations Center is partially activated if necessary.
OPCON ONE - Full Alert
A disaster or emergency is imminent or occurring. The County Emergency Operations Center is fully activated. Emergency response personnel are activated.
