Conway, South Carolina – Horry County Stormwater Management is sponsoring an effort to mark storm drains in the Castlewood subdivision in the Conway area of Horry County on Friday, December 6th along Drawbridge Drive and Crusade Circle. In partnership with the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium based at Coastal Carolina University, students from the Horry County Schools Early College High School program at Horry-Georgetown Technical College’s Conway campus will apply attractive and informative markers to storm drains in the neighborhood.
The markers inform residents that trash, pet waste, chemicals, oils or other pollutants should not be put in the storm drains. These drains do not lead to a water treatment plant, but lead untreated runoff to our local waterways where people fish, swim, and recreate. The storm drain marking project is one activity that Horry County utilizes to keep its waterways clean and to meet its state stormwater permit requirements for public outreach and involvement.
