April Showers: Flood Protection Assistance

To protect your property from flood damage:

 Demolish the building or relocate it out of harm’s way.  

• Elevate the building above the flood level. 
• Elevate damage– prone components, such as the furnace or air conditioning unit.  
• Dry floodproof the building so water cannot get into it.  
• Wet floodproof portions of the building so water won’t cause damage.  
• Construct a berm or redirect drainage away from the building.  
• Maintain nearby streams, ditches, and storm drains so debris does not obstruct them.  
• Correct sewer backup problems.

Upcoming Road Closures & Construction Updates

Motorists in all road construction areas should use caution, stay alert for crews working in the area, and pay attention to all signs and traffic control devices.

Upcoming Road Closure: International Drive Road Race

Sunday, April 3, 2022, International Drive will be closed between the International Drive Ballfields and Highway 90 beginning at 5 a.m. through the duration of the event, approximately 12 noon. 

Traffic will not be able to travel between Highway 90 and Carolina Forest on International Drive. Access will be provided to Lewis Ocean Bays Heritage Preserve and Horry County Solid Waste Authority from Highway 90 only. Anyone traveling in the area should use caution and take alternate routes.

The Wheatfield Drive entrance to The Farm Subdivision located on International Drive will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. for the duration of the event. 

Upcoming Lane Closures: Postal Way Extension

Weather permitting, intermittent evening and overnight lane closures are expected to begin on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the intersection of Postal Way and Carolina Forest Boulevard near the United States Post Office.

These closures will continue through the remainder of the Postal Way Extension road construction project. The project is a part of the RIDE III Program US Highway 501 Corridor Improvements. The project includes the extension of Postal Way east to Waccamaw Pines Drive with the installation of required intersection improvements and sidewalks.

Partial Road Closure on Industrial Park Road

A portion of Industrial Park Road in Conway, between Harris Shortcut Road and the curved section of Industrial Park Road in front of the Horry County Animal Care Center, will be closed to all traffic except construction traffic.
