Quarterly Employee Awards Announced

On October 17, 2014 in General

Conway, South Carolina – Horry County announced the three winners of the Horry County Employee Quarterly Awards, and a winner from each of the three divisions was chosen.

Devan Shelley, Appraiser Analyst for the Horry County Assessor’s Office, won the Administration Division Quarterly Award for invaluable assistance in getting the tax roll built and finalized to allow the assessment notices to be sent out on time.  This is the first reassessment that was finalized under the new system and Ms. Shelley oversaw the scheduling of every aspect of the reassessment.  She coordinated with the various sections of the Assessor’s Office to ensure that everyone was aware of deadlines.  Devan also performed nightly updates, often from home, to ensure that everything remained on schedule.  Ms. Shelley also worked closely with the Horry County Information Technologies & GIS Office to ensure all information technology functions were performed.  Devan’s amazing work ethic and attention to detail guaranteed a successful reassessment.

Cory Bellamy, Environmental Technician for Horry County Beach & Street/Roadside Litter, won the Public Safety Division Quarterly Award for his consistent willingness to assist however and wherever needed.  Cory started as a custodian for the Horry County Animal Care Center where he cared for the animals and promoted adoptions.  He filled a vacant position at the front desk where his knowledge of the animals and adoption process were invaluable.  When the Roadside Litter program was being developed, Cory rose to the challenge.  Since he had previous experience as a temporary employee, he was an excellent fit for the program.  He transports a team and equipment to the assigned area and cleans the roadway in a safe and efficient manor.  Mr. Bellamy has exceeded all expectations with his flexibility and positive attitude.  He is a model employee and an asset to Horry County.

Tammy Stevens, Business Analyst for Horry County Public Works, won the Infrastructure & Regulation Division Quarterly Award for her effort to collect, interpret and process Horry County Public Works’ disaster response documentation after the 2014 ice storms.  Through her diligence, Tammy has submitted requests for assistance to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for over $697,000 just for Public Works’ response.  Each Public Works employee’s time and equipment use had to be documented in 15 minute increments.  Each piece of equipment utilized had to have its serial number documented along with the hours of use.  Ms. Stevens spent many nights, weekends, and holidays working on this exhaustive document with no complaints.  Tammy exemplifies the ideal employee.

These three winners of the Horry County Employee Quarterly Awards received $250, a designated parking space, a certificate of achievement, and are eligible for the Employee of the Year Award of $1,000.
