Conway, South Carolina – Horry County Planning and Zoning received a PalmettoPride “Community Pride” grant for $4,000 that will purchase and install interpretive signage at five area boat landings and parks. The signs will be installed next to already existing environmental sculptures and will explain how litter affects fish and other wildlife. Other area groups who also received the “Community Pride” grant include the Carolina Forest Beautification Group, the City of Myrtle Beach, and Girl Scout Troup 955.
In addition, the Keep Horry County Beautiful Committee (KHCB) received a PalmettoPride “Keep South Carolina Beautiful” grant for $8,000 which will provide funds for the purchase of supplies that volunteers use at cleanup events held countywide. Last year, KHCB volunteers gave 1,389 hours of their time to clean 166 miles of road, two miles of river and 35 acres of parks and public lands. These citizens collected 22,833 pounds of litter and debris.
PalmettoPride awarded “Education and Enforcement” grants to North Myrtle Beach Middle School, Whittemore Park Middle School and the Atlantic Beach Police Department. Through all of the grants, over $32,000 in PalmettoPride funds were awarded to help beautify Horry County!
