Hurricane Matthew Update: Horry County Animal Care Center Strays

Date: October 6, 2016
Time: 8 a.m.

Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County Animal Care Center (HCACC) will open today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. for citizens to reclaim their pets that may have been picked up as strays.  The HCACC cannot accept drop offs at this time and will be closed except for the above (staff is still caring for the animals).

In preparation for Hurricane Matthew, the HCACC has been able to transfer approximately 40-pets who would have otherwise been up for adoption.  These pets went to rescues outside of the potential impact areas.

Should an evacuation be ordered, the Horry County Animal Care Center would like to remind residents to either take their pets with them (if able) or make arrangements from them to be cared for outside of the evacuation zone.  Do not leave your pets at home!

For more information or to see a list of adoptable pets and those that have been brought in as strays visit the Horry County Animal Care Center’s web page athttp://www.horrycounty.org/Departments/AnimalCareCenter.aspx.
