Horry County Activates Debris Management Plan

On October 11, 2016 in Emergencies

Conway, South Carolina-Horry County has activated its debris management plan and will begin picking up residential tree/yard debris on county maintained roads and in public subdivisions on county maintained roads. At this time, pick-up is not available for residents along private roads and private communities.

For those properties that are currently flooded due to the rivers, tree/yard debris pick-up on county maintained roads will begin in those areas once the rivers recede.

Horry County will release a more detailed pick-up schedule in the coming days.

What we need people to do now:

  • Place tree branches, logs, leaves and plants on the curbside, 10 feet from the roadways.
  • Do not block roadways.
  • Do not bag yard waste and do not block fire hydrants or other utilities.

Safety first

  • All residents are urged to make personal safety the first priority. Only set out debris if it is safe to do so.

Household garbage

  • All household garbage, including discarded food, can be taken to one of the 24 Horry County Solid Waste Authority recycling centers.  Click HERE for more information.

Private Roads/Private Communities

  • Residents located in private or gated communities may contact private haulers or contractors to remove debris. If you are removing your own trees, debris larger than six inches in diameter and four feet in length, must be brought to the Horry County Solid Waste Authority landfill located at 1886 Highway 90.
