Conway, South Carolina – Horry County will move to Operating Condition (OPCON) 2 at 5 p.m. this afternoon due to continuing flooding issues. OPCON 2 means that the flooding continues to pose a serious threat to Horry County.
The Horry County Emergency Operations Center remains activated 24 hours a day. Horry County Police and the South Carolina National Guard continue to staff security checkpoints along the Waccamaw River, Pee Dee River and the Intracoastal Waterway (near Socastee) around the clock. In addition, The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Horry County Police will continue to provide boat patrols along those waterways.
Additional flooding information…The Beach Church shelter closed as of 3 p.m. this afternoon. Evacuees are currently in the shelter opened at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church located at 2105 US 501 in Conway. Residents with questions can contact Horry County Emergency Management at 843-915-5150.
