Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County HOME Consortium will hold community meetings to obtain input into the development of the Horry County HOME Consortium Consolidated Plan, which affects the program and funding for housing and community development projects from 2018 to 2022. The purpose of the meeting is to receive public comment on the housing needs within the HOME Consortium region.
The community is asked to participate:

2) Provide written comments which can be delivered to the Community Development Office, 1515 Fourth Avenue, Conway, SC, 29526. You may also email your comments to Courtney Kaine, Michael Dobson, or Carol Weistner.
Citizens, community representatives, and nonprofit organizations are invited to attend these important meetings to offer comments on the housing and community development needs of the Consortium and to make recommendations for the types of activities to be undertaken to address those needs.
If any non-English speaking persons or persons with mobility, visual or hearing impairments wish to attend the public meetings and have special needs, or who have any questions, please notify the Horry County Community Development Office at 843-915-7033 in advance so that appropriate accommodations may be made. It is the policy of Horry County Government to assure that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin or sex, as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise discriminated against under any of its federally funded programs and activities. Any person who believes his/her Title VI protection has been violated may file a complaint. Conway, South Carolina—Horry County names Kelly Moore as the new Public Information Officer. Her first day is Monday, November 13, 2017.
Moore grew up in South Carolina. She is a graduate of Clemson University and holds a Master of Public Administration from the College of Charleston. Moore served as the Audience Development Manager at North Carolina Stage Company in Asheville, North Carolina and most recently as the Public Relations and Event Coordinator with the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in Charleston, South Carolina.
Moore’s responsibilities will include releasing information about County initiatives and updates. She will also manage the website for Horry County. “I’m excited to be joining a great team,” says Moore; “I look forward to helping citizens engage with Horry County.”

Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County Board of Registration and Elections will conduct a routine test of the 650 Scanner used to count absentee ballots on Election Day, October 24, 2017. The test will be held Friday, October 20, 2017, at 9 a.m. at the Horry County Registration & Elections Office located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway.

Conway, South Carolina-Horry County will conduct mosquito spraying, weather permitting, in the following area:
Aerial spraying will be conducted in the evenings usually between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and dusk, weather permitting (Wednesday, September 27 is the alternate date in the event of inclement weather).
The chemicals used for mosquito control spraying are approved by the EPA and pose minimal risk to humans or animals. Individuals with asthma or other respiratory illness may wish to stay indoors and close windows and doors during spraying. In addition, homegrown fruits and vegetables should be washed, scrubbed, and/or peeled before eating.
To help keep our honeybee population safe, beekeepers are urged to contact Horry County Stormwater to identify the location of their colonies. In addition, citizens who need to request spraying in their area can contact the Horry County Road & Drainage Hotline at 843-381-8000.
Conway, South Carolina – Horry County Government would like to remind residents to participate in The National Citizen Survey™ (The NCS™). The survey is designed to provide a baseline of how Horry County is serving residents, to gauge perceptions of the county and to make comparisons with peer counties/cities. A random sampling of 3,000 households chosen for the survey should have already received packets and can respond either with the provided pre-paid envelope or by the unique link in the mailing. The survey process is totally confidential and will assist Horry County in future planning.
