Two in Custody After Deadly Assault

Conway, South Carolina-Two people are in custody following an assault that turned deadly in the Nichols section of Horry County over the weekend.


On May 17, 2014 at approximately 9:30am, Officers with the Horry County Police Department’s West Precinct responded to a home on Willoughby Rd. in the Nichols section of Horry County in reference to an assault. Upon their arrival, they located a male victim with what appeared to be a large amount of trauma to the head. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Horry County Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and an investigation was initiated. Detectives learned that after a verbal altercation between the victim and the male suspect, a physical fight occurred where the victim was assaulted. After the assault, the female suspect did grab an aluminum baseball bat and hit the victim several times in the head. Both suspects were arrested and taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center; where they were charged in connection with the incident.

On today’s date, the victim was pronounced deceased at approximately 3:00am. As a result, charges on the female suspect will be upgraded accordingly.

Arrested:


Gearlene Boutista Delarosa (51 YOA B/F) DOB: 07-16-62. She resides in the Nichols section of Horry County. She is currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Original Charge: Attempted Murder
New Charge Sought: Voluntary Manslaughter

Santana Waitous Goff (22 YOA B/M) DOB: 09-18-91. He resides in the Nichols section of Horry County. He is currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Charge: Accessory After the Fact of a Felony



Horry County Police Seeking Identification of Sexual Assault Suspect

Conway, South Carolina-The Horry County Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is looking to identify a suspect involved in a sexual assault late last week.


On April 25, 2014, Officers with the Horry County Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault. Upon their arrival, they learned that a white male suspect unlawfully entered the home of a woman in the Socastee area of Horry County and attacked her. The suspect did force himself on the woman sexually against her will. After the attack, the suspect fled the home.

The victim believes that the suspect did come to the house approximately two weeks earlier posing as a repairman there to fix something, but did not come into the house after the victim questioned the sincerity of his presence.

The case is now under investigation with Detectives of the Horry County Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit. A description has been given of the suspect as a white male approximately 5ft. 10in. and weighing approximately 220 pounds with gray hair. He is approximately 40-5- years of age. The suspect was operating a white truck (unknown make or model) with paper tags. In addition, a sketch has been provided to the Horry County Police Department by State Law Enforcement Division based on the victim’s description.
