Horry County To Open Three Additional Locations for Absentee Voting

Conway, South Carolina (August 26, 2020)—In anticipation of the increased number of citizens expected to vote absentee, Horry County Voter’s Registration & Elections will set up voting sites at the North Strand Recreation Center, the South Strand Recreation Center and the Carolina Forest Library, October 5, 2020, to November 2, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Voters who prefer to vote absentee in person will enter the facility, complete the provided absentee voting application, and then vote. If voting absentee in person, voters are urged to visit www.scvotes.gov to ensure that their information is correct prior to arrival. If the information has changed or is otherwise incorrect, voters will be directed to the Horry County Registration & Elections office located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway. Additionally, absentee in person voters will need to have proper identification. Voters are encouraged to be patient as safety protocols may cause the process to be slightly slower.

Voters who were mailed absentee ballots may utilize the drop box to securely drop off their absentee ballots (a drop box is also available at the Voter’s Registration & Elections office in Conway.)

Horry County Voter's Registration & Elections to Conduct Scanner Test for August Election

The Horry County Board of Registration and Elections will conduct a routine test of the scanner which will be used to count absentee ballots on Election Day, August 18, 2020. The test will be held Friday, August 14, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. at the Horry County Registration & Elections Office located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway.

South Carolina House Seat 107 Filing To Open July 28, 2020

Horry County Registration and Elections would like to remind interested candidates that filing for South Carolina House of Representatives Seat 107 will open Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at noon through Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at noon. The Horry County Registration & Elections Office filing hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The fee to file is $208. Interested candidates can either file at the Horry County Voter’s Registrations & Elections Office located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway or with the South Carolina Elections Commission.

Registered voters are reminded that the election date for the South Carolina House of Representatives Seat 107 will be Tuesday, August 18, 2020, and a runoff, if necessary, will be Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

Horry County Board of Registration & Elections to Conduct Scanner Test

The Horry County Board of Registration and Elections will conduct a routine test of the tabulator and scanner which will be used to count absentee ballots on Election Day, February 29, 2020. The test will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. at the Horry County Registration & Elections Office located at 1515 4th Avenue in Conway.

Poll Workers Needed for 2020 Elections

The Horry County Voter’s Registration & Elections Office is seeking poll workers and poll managers for the 2020 elections. Horry County citizens ages 16 and over are eligible. Workers are paid for training and working during elections and lunch is provided! Interested citizens are asked to commit to three elections in 2020, the Presidential Preference Primary February 29, 2020, the Primary on June 9, 2020, and the General Election on November 2, 2020.

To apply, interested citizens must bring their driver’s license or state-issued identification and Social Security cards to Horry County Human Resources located in the Government & Justice Center, 1301 Second Avenue in Conway. Voter’s Registration & Elections will send notification regarding training after the application process is completed.
