S&P Global Ratings raised its long-term rating and underlying rating (SPUR) on Horry County, S.C.'s general obligation (GO) bonds to 'AA+' from 'AA'. The outlook is stable. "The rating change reflects the improvement in the county's debt profile, with further improvement expected in fiscal 2019, coupled with the county's growing and diversifying local economy," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Daniel Hughes. "In addition, the county's very strong management policies and practices continue to support its strong budgetary performance and very strong reserves." Read the full release here.

Conway, South Carolina – The Horry County Finance Department received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The award represents a significant achievement by the Horry County Finance Department’s Budget Manager and reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. This is Horry County’s 27th consecutive award.
In order to receive the budget award, Horry County had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

“The Horry County Housing Fair will be great resource for members of our community to learn about homeownership opportunities for individuals and families across a spectrum of income levels,” stated Diana Seydlorsky, Horry County Community Development Block Grant Director. “The featured workshops and exhibits are designed to educate attendees about location options, being prepared for buying or renting and more.”
