Second Annual International Drive Road Race

Conway, South Carolina (April 18, 2019)—The Second Annual International Drive Road Race is Sunday, April 28, 2019. The event includes a 5K, 12K, and one-mile fun run for kids. The starting time is 7:30 AM for the 5K, 8:00 AM for the 12K, and 9:30 AM for the one-mile fun run with an awards ceremony following immediately afterward.

 

Both the 5K and 12K courses are USATF certified. This is a closed course race. Participants are able to compete in both the 5K and 12K with the top 1st-3rd overall male and female runners receiving cash awards. Each participant will receive a finisher medal.

Registration for all three races is still open and registration fees include a high-quality tech t-shirt, a finishers medal, and refreshments at the finish line. Fun run participants have the option of purchasing a t-shirt.

ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION

On the day of the event, International Drive will be closed between the International Drive Ballfields and Highway 90 beginning at 5:00 AM through the duration of the event, approximately 12:00 noon.  Traffic will NOT be able to travel between Highway 90 and Carolina Forest on International Drive. Access will be provided to Lewis Ocean Bays Heritage Preserve and Horry County Solid Waste Authority from Highway 90 ONLY. Anyone traveling in the area should use caution and utilize alternate routes.

 

The Wheatfield Drive entrance to The Farm Subdivision located on International Drive will be closed beginning at 5:00 AM for the duration of the event. 



Upcoming Temporary Road Closure of International Drive for Controlled Burn

Conway, South Carolina – Thursday, March 14, 2019: The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) intends to perform a controlled burn in the vicinity of International Drive on Monday, March 18, 2019. The controlled burn will reduce the accumulation of flammable fuels on the forest floor in accordance with SCDNR’s planned land management objectives.

This controlled burn will require a temporary road closure of International Drive, from SC Highway 90 to Ocean Bay Elementary School, for all traffic. The closure is expected to go into effect after 8:00 AM on Monday morning and will reopen Monday night. Law Enforcement will be enforcing the road closure. Access to the Horry County Solid Waste Recycling Facility will remain open but only from SC Highway 90.

This schedule is subject to change and is based upon the most current weather forecast. Please plan your travel accordingly. Alternate routes include: US Highway 501 and SC Highway 22.

International Drive Road Race This Sunday

The First Annual International Drive Road Race is Sunday, April 29, 2018. The event includes a 5K, 10K, and one mile fun run for kids. The starting time is 8:00 AM for the 5K, 8:30 AM for the 10K, and 9:30 AM for the one mile fun run with an awards ceremony following immediately afterward.

Both the 5K and 10K courses are USATF certified. This is a closed course race. Participants are able to compete in both the 5K and 10K with the top 1st-3rd overall male and female runners receiving cash awards. Each participant receives a finisher medal. Black Dog Running Company is managing the event. Second Wind Race Timing will be the official timing company. The 5K and 10K courses will use chip timing devices attached to the participant bib to record each runner's time.

Registration for all three races is still open, and fees currently range from $5-$70. Registration fees include a high quality tech t-shirt, a finishers medal and refreshments at the finish line. Fun run participants have the option of purchasing a t-shirt.    

The entrance to The Farm subdivision located on International Drive will be closed beginning at 5:00 AM through the duration of the event.
