Officer Jacob Hancher Memorial Highway Dedication
Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 11 a.m.
This Sunday, October 3, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m., Horry County officials will hold a ceremony to dedicate a portion of River Oaks Drive in honor of Officer Jacob Hancher, an officer with Myrtle Beach Police Department that was killed in the line of duty on October 3, 2020. Hancher also served as a volunteer member of Horry County Fire Rescue.
At their meeting on September 21, 2021, County Council passed Resolution R-113-2021 recognizing Officer Hancher for his dedication and commitment to public service within the community and for making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty protecting the citizens of Horry County. Further, the Resolution designated that a portion of River Oaks Drive be renamed as the Officer Jacob Hancher Memorial Highway in memory of his commitment, dedication, service, and devotion to others.
Sunday's Ceremony will be held at the entrance to Waterway Palms Plantation, located at the intersection of River Oaks Drive and Waterway Palms Boulevard.
Feedback: Horry County Flood Resilience Plan
In an effort to gauge the needs and desires of the community as the Flooding Subcommittee and County Council prepare to review the Horry County Flood Resiliency Plan, Horry County is accepting comments on the plan via email at email@example.com.
Feedback will be accepted through October 22, 2021. After that time, the feedback will be collected and presented for review by the Flooding Subcommittee.
Public feedback has been a critical component of the development of this plan and we want to make sure our community continues to be engaged and informed throughout the remainder of the process.
Community members can review the proposed Horry County Flood Resiliency Plan in its current form on the Horry County website.
