South Carolina Highway 31 Extension Project: Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Marine Impacts

Conway, South Carolina-The US Coast Guard will establish a 200-yard safety zone on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway encompassing all waters directly under the SC Hwy 31 project, including any vessels and/or machinery associated with construction on the following dates/times which are subject to change and weather permitting

  • October 27, 2017, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. CANCELLED
  • November 3, 2017, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • November 10, 2017, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • December 2, 2017, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • December 12, 2017, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • December 21, 2017, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Entry of vessels or persons into the safety zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port or a designee. Mariners are urged to plan accordingly to avoid unnecessary disruptions. Steel Girders Continue to be Set Over SC 707 for SC 31 Bridge

Conway, South Carolina – Steel girders for the SC31 Bridge will to be set over SC 707. The project will continue on Sunday, May 22, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. and continuing the same hours through Wednesday, May 25, weather permitting.

During this time period, motorists will encounter periodic closures of SC707 (both lanes) where the bridge is being erected near Moss Creek Road. (See map.) These closures will occur in 20 minute increments. Motorists are encouraged to use US Highway 17 Bypass as an alternative route. 



Steel Girders to be Set Over SC 707 for SC 31 Bridge

Conway, South Carolina – Steel girders for the SC31 Bridge will be set over SC 707 and is anticipated to take two weeks to complete. The project will begin on Tuesday, May 10, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. and continuing the same hours through Thursday, May 12, weather permitting, and again on Sunday, May 15, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. and continuing the same hours through, May 19, weather permitting.

During this time period, motorists will encounter periodic closures of SC707 (both lanes) where the bridge is being erected near Moss Creek Road. (See map.) These closures will occur in 20 minute increments. Motorists are encouraged to use US Highway 17 Bypass as an alternative route.
